Connie, Jenny and Michele attended, along with fellow Rotarians, family members, friends and teachers, to support the outstanding student speakers. The Rotary Monash Glen Waverley (RCMGW) sponsored four of the eight contestants, representing Wellington Secondary College and Glen Waverley Secondary College. All spoke with remarkable confidence and insight. The District 4-Way Speech Competition was hosted by RC Box Hill Central at the Best Western Tudor Inn, Box Hill, on Tuesday 11 November 2025.
Our representatives and their topics were:
- Sou Chhing Eart – Wellington Secondary College “It All Starts with I’ll Listen”
- Ameya Nambiar – Glen Waverley Secondary College “Fast News, Slow Truth: Why We Believe Before We Think”
- Hriday Zaveri – Glen Waverley Secondary College “The Human Cost of Exploitation”
Pichkanika Ouk – Wellington Secondary College “Procrastination: The Lies We Tell”
Contestants, all Year 10 students, were given four minutes to present on their chosen topic, with the challenge of integrating and applying at least two ideals of the Rotary Four-Way Test. Judging was based on impact on the intellect, impact on emotions, and effective use of Four-Way Test ideals.
As always, attendees were inspired by the messages, enthusiasm, confidence and talent shown by these young speakers and future leaders.
RCMGW continued its strong record in the competition, with Ameya Nambiar winning overall with an outstanding presentation. Mark Robinson (GWSC Senior Master) and Suzanne Plait (GWSC Principal) were there to cheer Ameya on and share in the celebration.
Congratulations to all participants for representing their schools and Rotary so impressively, and especially to Ameya for this wonderful achievement.
